Does anyone have a service manual for this series ?
The one at hi-fi engine is in German alas

Usual way is to split the chassis - four or five screws through the dished upper deck which hold it to the uprights and the connection panel. Multitudes of odd spindles and wires to watch in the process.

Andy, have you looked on the Studer Web-site? A few years ago I found they had Revox model service information going way back (even to the 10 inch spool days).

How about getting an English and German service manual for any vaguely-similar tape recorder, and using that as a kind of "Rosetta Stone" to work out the German words for each part of the mechanism?

It's more likely to have vocabulary such as "rewind idler", "takeup spool clutch" and "bias oscillator coil" than a typical touristy phrasebook .....

Hello Andy,
Well, I've just looked at it. It has both English and German, as shown in this screen capture:

Try this link: ftp://ftp.studer.ch/Public/Products/Revox/Revox_G36/

Once that page is displayed, right-click on: Revox_G36_Serv.pdf and select 'Save link target as'

Regards,

Dave.
