Default Test set type D 10S / 10610

Hi Folks, can anyone point me in the direction of schematics etc for this meter. I was sure I'd seen something on the forum about it, but a search did nor reveal anything.

Thanks, Ed

Ed,
I believe you need AP1186E, Volume 1, Section 9, Chapter 1 - unfortunately I don't have this! It might be worth checking whether TNA, Kew have this part.

There is a circuit diagram on here, for sure, but if i remember right there is at least one copy that has been amended to show the 'values found' within the contributor's own meter.

I just searched under 'Avo model d meter schematic' and found a couple of versions.

If there are any specific component/bobbin values you need to know, shout and i will report back with details from my 'best' meter.

Does this help? It probably came originally from Peter Munro, like most Avo circuits!

Thanks Phil, that was one of the ones i had seen before....but note that it is a modified diagram!

Looks good actually, apart from the Ohms range windings which sit on their own board- those values of 186ohm and 15ohm seem to relate to the 40/47/48 series of meters- the values for the Model D will in my experience be around 235ohm and 20ohm respectively; when i fitted these values in a Model D the low range and high range were found to be satisfactory.

It's easy to get caught out!

- Just commenting to confirm post #6; (have double checked)

The windings in question (which are at about 3 o'clock on the diagram) BROADLY correlate to the resistance/s found at centre scale:

Model 40/47A/48A - centre scale- 20/200
Model D - centre scale- 25/250

These windings are often found to be overcooked/destroyed, presumably from misuse.

Thanks Gents, with luck I'll get a start on it next week.
