Default Taking threads off topic

We are noticing an increase in off-topic posts in threads in this section. This section is for "wanted" requests, not general chat and asides about the items wanted etc. Please only reply if you can help with the original request.

Such off-topic posts are now being deleted when we see them, but please save us the bother by not posting them in the first place.

Off Topic posts. This is a particular problem in Sales and want threads, but it’s become an epidemic. ( named by one Mod as the Zombie Apocalypse) As an example: someone offers a Bush Model xxxx for sale. Reply post I had one of those when I was a student etc, no idea what happened to it. Is this any use to the member offering the item for sale?
Tales of derring-do have their place and are interesting to many members but don’t put them in sales and wants, start a new thread in an appropriate section. Sales and wants are regularly removed so you carefully crafted post will be lost.
Post should be relevant to the topic and don’t rely on the “last post” it may have little in common with the origins of the thread. Rather than morph a thread just start a new one.
If you see something interesting and want to comment you can start a new thread and link to the thread which sparked your interest.

Off topic posts will just be deleted without notice.

Cheers
