PYE Stereophonic Radiogram Model 1203
Hello,
I posted here a while back about the above and got loads of really good answers, thanks. I now have a problem with the fact that I cannot get the thing to work and need some replacement valves or a valves tester (probably both!) Any ideas Thanks Last edited by Mike Phelan; 22nd Jun 2011 at 9:24 am. Reason: Added link to previous post referred to. |

Don't go straight for the valves. Tell us the following...
Do the valves light up. They are in parallel on this, so if one is not lit then try that valve. If they are all out, check that the thing is powered. Does the turntable work OK. 'I can't get it to work' tells us nothing. In what way? Cheers, Steve P.

Re: PYE Stereophonic Radiogram Model 1203
I know it's been a while since you left this reply, I'd kind of abandoned it until recently for various reasons but I am now in the process of making it work again.
I have tested from the socket into the unit and what I think may be the problem is the fuse in the cavity underneath the whole radio unit. The red one. My question is, what would this be called and where would I buy a replacement? There seems to be power going up til that point, but not out of the neutral. Do you think this might be the problem? Kind regards. |

Hi Shaun,
Prise the red cover off, you'll find a fuse inside. That might be your problem. From memory it's an odd size too. Peter. |

I've just had a look inside one of these and they contain a ½" glass fuse.

If the fuse is blackened, you'll need to check the components such as diodes 'downstream' before replacing, as there is likely to be a short across the supply.
If it is just open/broken, then replace like for like.

Just another question, where can I get a replacement fuse?! I looked online but can't find it anywhere.
Thanks Shaun |

i (Hi) Shaun, You,l (you'll) struggle to find an exact replacement. I think I used a 20mm one but the cover doesn't fit very well. What value is it? About 0.5 to 1 amp will be safe.
