Re: Table Top Sale at the Museum this Sunday.
I too got along and had an enjoyable time speaking with like-minded souls.
The smell, heat and line whistles within the TV display room all added to the atmosphere. The anecdotes of John’s many years in the trade need to be recorded for posterity, they form as much as a part of the experience as the sets themselves. They give an insight to how the general public perceived the technology as it changed through the years. My thanks to all who helped make the event happen. Re: Table Top Sale at the Museum this Sunday.
I to had a "grand day out" and agree with all the comments made.
I fully agreed with what Vic says about John's anecdotes and he needs to write them down. Perhaps someone in charge should give John an ultimatum, either he should produce his memoirs or he should be made to work ONLY on tape-recorders that should focus his mind Seriously he SHOULD consider it. Thanks again to all the organisers . Nick

Re: Table Top Sale at the Museum this Sunday.
It was a really great day at the museum meeting many new faces. The radio pile was very interesting and most of the receivers gave some response when plugged in. The component packs were snapped up from the moment we opened. Bargains!
The television room was popular and tours were willingly given by the friends group. Thanks everyone for making it such a great day and I hope to see you for our 80th celebration of high definition 405 line television on Sept 10th if not before. Regards, John. |
