Default Signal Generator type 47.

Need you clever gentlemen's help again. Picked up yesterday. Any info you have please. Looks like a magnetron to me. I am more used to general receivers. Picked up as an old signal generator. Front panel poor. Unside for age like new.

Thanks for any help, Derek.

Blowing up the front panel, I espy a knob labelled 'reflector'. This to me would suggest a klystron. A very interesting bit of kit!

Does look like a klystron in there. It's not my field of knowledge, but it does look to be of c.WW2 era and low-volume production- it may be of historical significance, there are some members here with particular interest in this field who could likely advise.

Indeed a very interesting unit.

It is designed to generate an RF output wavelength between 9.0 and 9.2cms, for testing H2S MkII radar receivers.

It is described in the overall manual which I have as a 50MB PDF file, if you want the relevant part give me time to extract it.

Don't be tempted to power it unless you have a source of 80v 1600Hz power!

The manual is available on-line here -

https://www.blunham.com/Radar/Signal...S-MkII-III.pdf

Para. 816 onwards covers this Signal Generator.

If you don't want it I'd willingly buy it, but only if you could pack it and post it to Preston (obviously at my expense).
