Default Leaf switch NAD MMI- 6A2LK for NAD 6050C.

Hi, new to the forum and hoping, after fruitless searches, someone may be able to help. I have the above tape deck and after testing found the leaf switch activated by the mechanical 'play' button is broken. The flimsy plastic lever arm that presses the two metal contacts together has snapped off at the base. I am going to try super gluing it back into place but am not hopeful. If anyone has any ideas re replacement part it would be much appreciated. Also, the belts are perished but cannot find anything specific to this model - Jumbo pack??

Many thanks

Mike

Or post a photo (with a scale) and we'll see what we've all got lying around that might be persuaded to fit.

And welcome to our forum, Mike!

Thank you for the welcome and replies. The super glue appears to be working for the moment but not sure how long it will last. Currys don't appear to do NAD stuff and Pinball Mania are on holiday 'till the end of the month. All the relays I have looked at seem bigger and awkward to fit in the space provided.

Thanks for you advice

A similar type is used on UHER R2R recorders and can be bought from RS Components.

However the type used on UHERs are open skeleton type here's the link to this type:
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/micros...0928/?sra=pstk.

But there other types in that section.

Just had a reply from NAD saying MMI- 6A2LK is not a model number they recognise. I realise now it is the number of the motor. Sorry for the misleading info. - amateur!

The Model number of the cassette deck is NAD 6050C

Could a standard long-levered microwitch be persuaded to fit? The lever could be bent through 90 degrees if necessary.

Thanks desymo1.

I am sure something can be persuaded to fit, maybe a trip to local Maplins/radio spares shop.

That looks like a broken microswitch to me, could be just the pic. As dseymo1 says maybe a micro Sw will fit. will have a look int shed.

Thanks for the reply DA, email from NAD "I've been advised by our parts department the part your are looking for has been unavailable since 2009. We have no substitute part for it."

Waiting for the pack of generic drive belts to arrive then will have to see if the repair I did to the old switch works and if I can cobble together the belts to get the right sizes. 3 of them should be ok if diameters right but one is about 3mm wide and as these are only 1mm thought of fitting three together. I can but try.

Does anyone know the belt diameters for NAD 6050C? Tried the Internet and workshop manual but no sizes.

Repaired leaf switch working and new belts fitted.

Insert tape press play, mechanism engages but nothing happens. Fast forward/reverse work fine.Tape counter works on fast forward but not reverse (maybe it shouldn't - can't remember) Any ideas why Play button not activating capstan? Motor/pulleys run ok. Now getting out of my depth - something is not connecting. Any ideas much appreciated.
