Premier TRF kit radio
Just two quick questions, could anyone advise the correct value for the reaction control, and the probable cause of serious mains modulation?
I've just acquired a Premier which had been built, and possibly modified, by someone whose enthusiasm exceeded their ability, and the pot, which is damaged beyond repair, looks like it came from a 50's transistor set . It makes no difference to the reception, which is very weak (just about picks up TalkSport). Any help gratefully received, Rick. |

Re: Premier TRF kit radio
For the modulation hum, check the filter capacitor across the mains supply, you may also need to put a small capacitor across the mains rectifier if there is not one already in the circuit.
With DC conversion receivers I sometimes had to put a toroid on the mains lead near the radio.
