Default Dial Cord Size

I have an opportunity to purchase a quantity of Hamilon 0.3mm dial cord but I am not sure that the diameter would be suitable for general use.

My main concern is that it would not be suitable for more complex systems i.e. there might not be enough traction on the driving spindle to provide reliable operation.

Is there any formal guide or rule of thumb for this issue?

Cheers

Billy

Hi,

0.3mm seems very thin to me, it may be used on some portable radios but I can't recall having seen any except some latter Roberts models but even then I don't think it was that thin.

If it's a freebie then maybe it will come in handy at some time.

Thanks.

It is not a freebie and there are 500 metres on the reel. I'll probably give it a miss.

Cheers,

Hello.
The most general dialcord is 0,5 mm and 0,85mm .
0,4mm is used most in portables as Dave allso wrote.
Only original dialcord has -very good traction/grip- even if it is (to) thin.
