The commercial sites also use MySQL so they may have been affected.

Next time the mailshot is going out I'll keep an eye on the server load and the state of the main processes. Meanwhile I have tweaked the settings for the mailshot system to send less per batch.

Yes, there was another mass of emails going out today, plus from looking at the server status that it was running a scheduled task to update the bandwidth used by all sites at around that time, which was taking about 25% of the CPU. I'll check with the host to see if that can be scheduled to just run at night time.

I know it is having some very sticky moments at the moment, I have just referred it to the hosting company as I can't find any obvious cause.

The server may be intermittently busy for the next hour or so due to a high speed sending of marketing emails to existing customers on another website hosted on it. Please bear with us.

As I mentioned in post #66 it was a specific one-off mailing that actually took about 2 hours to complete. That post was intended to be an advance warning so that problems during that period did not need to be reported.

Normally these mailing sessions are set to run slower and take several hours so they have minimal impact on the server.

Default Server busy

Been getting a lot of "Server busy" notices in the last week or so. Can't pin down any particular pattern of times. Usually only for a few minutes.

There is no obvious reason, and of course whenever I check it's fine!
