Hello,
I am in need of some assistance in calibrating my 20" Sony Profeel. I have adjusted the convergence in the centre of the screen using the h-stat and moving the purity rings to get a very good alignment. So far that has taken me a couple of hours, but the main issue with the set is that it currently has alignment issues, and is under scanning on both the bottom and top. But I am not quite sure which variable resistor on the PCB's I need to adjust. I had seen this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoBqm4ThJxw#t=145 And you can observe him adjusting the alignment, that is essentially what I'm trying to do The service manual is of no help. It only lists the PCB diagrams. I was expecting it to explain to me how to actually calibrate the set? I've attached my service manual anyway if someone can help discern where I should be adjusting. Also here is an image of it displaying a test pattern: PS. I had forgotten to mention that its displaying through composite at the moment Last edited by AC/HL; 1st Nov 2014 at 3:06 am. Reason: PS |

Re: Need assistance calibrating Sony Profeel
Thank you ron, I found the v-size in the service manual.
Only problem is that its on the D board which is on the bottom of the set. I'm not quite sure how I am going to get to it. |

Could you not lay the tube face on a soft surface, make a small adjustment to V Size in one direction, then put the set in a viewing position and observe the result? If it goes the wrong way, make an adjustment in the other direction.

Re: Need assistance calibrating Sony Profeel
I have put the tube in a tate set-up so I can adjust and observe at the same time
It discolours the set, but returns to normal when I stand it up the right way. Thank you for your help Ron it is looking quite nice as of this moment. |

Re: Need assistance calibrating Sony Profeel
The change in colours is due to the effect of the Earth's magnetic field on the electron beam in the tube and hence its beam landing. When the set is finally installed in its normal viewing position the degaussing circuits will, over the space of a day or so nullify any slight impurities in the colours caused by the random movements of the tube.
