Default Excellent valve radio construction articles

Dave Schmarder has some great radio construction articles at www.makearadio.com/tube/
The one I really like is the Single Tube Radio. It uses a hearing aid valve.
The filament "drain" is 10 ma from a 1.5 volt cell and 250 microamps plate current from two 9 volt transistor batteries

Yes, a most interesting site, thanks for the heads up !

On that site is a link to another site, The M@d Scientist which has a section that includes some radios (one of which is based on a design on the makearadiosite). Solar powered valve radio anyone ?

Jon

I only have to run a valve set between the hours of about 9 and 5 during the summer to have one of those by default

(or Washing Machine/Air Conditioner/Tumble drier).

Just one 0.25sq m solar panel should provide enough power for the average valve set. Less than that for a portable. Would still buy a lot of batteries, though.
