Black Star frequency counter
Hi.
I have been looking out for a frequency counter and have seen one offered at a good price. It's a Black Star 1325 model 1.3GHz, and I would be interested in other members thoughts on purchasing this item. I recently purchased a Heathkit RF-1U signal generator, which I know is very basic but will do for me. Back to the Black Star, I cant find any information on the web regarding this model, except for the Apollo 100 and Meteor 100-600 and 1000 range. Ed. |

Manual here: http://docs-europe.electrocomponents...6b80078cfe.pdf
I've had a black star counter in the distant past and it was good. No problems with it. Looking at the above it has Hi-Z and Lo-Z inputs, does 1.3GHz and has very good sensitivity. It's one of their higher end models by the looks. As with all old Black Star / Thurlby / Thandar equipment make sure it hasn't had batteries leaked inside it! Heathkit RF-1U is a classic bit of kit. Dial calibration is usually way off though. Definitely worth using it with a counter. |

Re: Black Star frequency counter
I've got the 600Mhz version here, but have only had it for a couple of months although it's evidently years old.
Must say, though, I'm very happy with it. |

If you don't have the user manual it's in this thread along with the service manual.

Re: Black Star frequency counter
I've had a 1325 since new, and it's been brilliant. Still going, used it yesterday.
Would recommend. Dave. |

Re: Black Star frequency counter
Yes, must agree, I have had a Black Star Meteor 600 for more (probably much more) than 25 years and it's been totally reliable. Easy to use too, and quite sensitive.
