Default Spell Check on the Forum

I have "spell check" enabled in Firefox, but it doesn't seem to operate when posting on the forum. Can anyone tell me how to get a spell check function, either in vBulletin or via the browser?

There is no spell checker in vBulletin, so any spell checkers you do or don't have are in your browser. The Firefox one works fine for me.

Write your text in something like MS Word or any other similar system that does a spell check, then cut 'n' paste into your post?

With my moderator's hat on I find that most typos are either missing punctuation marks or wrong words used, such as its / it's, there / their and "grocers' apostrophes".

Spell checks will miss most of these.

Just spotted Paul's post; Firefox works for me as well.

The spell checker in Firefox works perfectly for me on this forum too. However there are some other forums I'm a member of that also use vBulletin that it doesn't work properly on. I suspect it's down to the editor they've chosen to embed.

(for example, in the above paragraph, Firefox has underlined in red the words 'Firefox' and 'vBulletin')

User CP - Edit Options - scroll to the bottom. There are three editor choices. "Standard Editor" works fine with the Firefox spell checker. The others may not (I suspect the WYSIWYG one may have problems).

There are, of course, different spelling checkers available for FireFox so perhaps some work and some don't.

I've never had a problem here either.

Actually the spell checker is built into Firefox, and there are different dictionaries available to use with it.

Fixed it; had to right-click in the forums 'reply to thread' text box and have Firefox install a dictionary. Thanks.
