Bought this morning for my Philips radio. It is complete with the 3 position switch and a plug but the cable outer sleeve has mostly turned to dust.
Not unexpected, it is showing no continuity at all. The problem is these are sealed with wax and stamped with PR and all but one of the seals is still in place including one on the switch. Opening it up is going to be a bit destructive so anybody know if I should start with the switch or is it going to be the coils and I need to take it all apart? |

Where is the switch? I don't remember a switch on the one I had.
It may need a rewind. Mine was OC and I dismantled it. First though I made a clay mould of the wax seals and I kept the resin when I broke it out for possible re use . I never reassembled it properly as I sold it with the seal stamp etc, but it would have worked to re stamp the seals when reassembled. |

I guess I will have to do the same. The switch is in-line and from what I see here http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/philips_2007.html must switch between 500, 1500 and 2000 ohms. I read there were different versions and this is the deluxe 2007 model from 1927.
Wanted one for a while and this one came up in a not too distant auction and I got it for a good price. Makes a change from opportunistic buying I usually regret! |

Thats interesting I Havant seen one like that . My speaker came with its original radio, the ,most expensive mains model of the late 20s which is large and EXTREMELY heavy!I sold it with the speaker and had to send it to Italy ......
Some of these speakers have gold pressed into the surface . Best to check out the switch and wiring first of course |
