Default Re: Akai VT-110 reel-to-reel monochrome VTR

I do have the service manual here for the VTS 110. Section II ,
Case Removal has 9 photos showing how to remove the mechanism from the case.

Firstly, the great peril of these machines is breaking off the drum head pole pieces.
Until the transport is repaired no attempt at tape loading should be tried.

I did work on these machine in the 70's with the Akai Service Engineer
who was assigned to our shops because replacing and aligning head poles
had to be done with an optical fixture. (we had t wait until no buses were
on the street as they shook the building making task impossible)

Steps :
1 remove battery
2 remove 6 screws on bottom
3 front escutcheon remove 4 screws (where batt jack is)
4 (where monitor jack is) remove 2 screws
5 (where camera jack is) remove 1 screws
6 remove head cover, remove waeel cover (their spelling) short cover
adjacent head cover remove pinch roller screw and wheel
7 remove tape guide roller, remove sub pinch waeel
8 mechanical panel remove 4 screws
9 the chassis is free from case

The images in the manual are overlaid with red writing that needs a
magnifying glass to read.

Of all the tape machines, in all the world, good luck in messing with
this one
