Default Re: Problem With My Gould 1604 Oscilloscope

The focus on my 1604 went the same way after 10 years, cured by replacing all the 10uFs. I had to go up in voltage a lot to get the right size though. I've had two Tants go so far, and the Shaffer mains filter.( fortunately the boot keeps the gunge in)
The pin for the centre tap on the power transformer AMP pcb connector went high resistance, the psu rails went all over the place as a result, a chip under the tube crowbar-ed and one of the little yellow chokes blew. It took a year before I found a choke on ebay
but the chip survived.

Now the ALPS rubber dome push buttons front panel are going high resistance, they are long obsolete, Mouser used to sell them but they are no longer listed. Their stock must have gone somewhere.
I like the scope though, fond memories of the 80's when I hired one (for work) when they were new, (print the trace and stick in your (typed up by the secretary report)) everybody wanted to borrow it.
