Default 'Alternative' isolation transformer

Purely because I have a few of them lying around....

..is there any particular reason why I can't wire two transformers (each of which are 240V:24V) back-to-back to create a 'cheapskates' isolation transformer?

i.e. 240:24 - 24:240

Obviously there will be double the usual losses (heat) but is there anything else to be wary of?

Otherwise the transformers are just sharp edged door stops.
