Default Akai VT-110 reel-to-reel monochrome VTR

Does anyone have any dismantling instructions for this early (1970s) reel-to-reel Akai VTR?

The internal lead-acid batteries are useless, but it powers up with an external 12V supply applied and a motor can be heard to run all the time, but the symptom when play is pressed is that the take-up spool doesn't rotate and tape spill occurs.

In addition, neither fast forward nor reverse wind operate. The capstan motor runs, so I want to check to see if any belts that drive the other functions are perished.

Taking out all of the five obvious screws in the top plate, plus removing the pinch roller is not enough to release the plate. I'm reluctant to dive in too deeply without the help of a service manual in case some critical adjustment is disturbed. Is anyone familiar with this machine please?
