Norelco 0185 Cassette Recorder

Is anyone familiar with the Norelco Model 0185 cassette recorder. I have one that doesn't work. I can't find anyone who can repair it. I have tapes that I'd like to listen to, but can't. Can anyone help?

Hi Stan,
I think the Norelco is basically Philips, if you look at the "Get reel" vintage recorders site under technical help you will find someone to help I am sure, I think there is one in Texas.

Regards.

It's probably not much help, but I'm sure that Norelco(?NOrthern ELectric COmpany??) is/was the U.S. branch of Philips, so the 0185 is, as Doffrey says, a Philips. You MAY find a schematic herehttp://www.manuals-in-pdf.com

If you can post a picture of your player we should be able to work out it's Philips clone which those of us in Europe will be more familiar with. Once we know that we'll probably be able to give you some more detailed advice..

For now though it would be helpful to narrow the problem down to either electrical or mechanical. It's worth noting that if it has the original drive belts they will almost certainly need replacing by now. If it does turn out to be the belts you will probably be able to change these yourself..
