Burnham Beeches RC 75th Anniversary next Monday

The Burnham Beeches Radio Club celebrates its 75th anniversary next week.

There will be an open evening on Monday 17th starting at 6pm.

There will be a wide range of radio stations and equipment being operated, from a replica 1940 homebrew AM Transmitter to modern multomode, SDR and satellite stations. I will be operating 1970s vintage KW and Yaesu equipment as well as the 1940 AM Tx on 7143KHz.

The Farnham Common village hall postcode is SL2 3NL. Details here.
Everyone welcome!

The club callsign is G3WIR and the stations will be operational on most bands during the evening.

regards
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

If I can't be there in person I will certainly attempt a sked on 40m - Hopefully using my TCS.

Cheers,
Sean

Been listening since 6pm, nothing but DL SSB ststions coming in - couple of possible carriers, but nothing to compete with these sort of signals sadly.

Hope it went well

Thank you for your hospitality.
An interesting range of equipment in use, very impressed with Jeremy's AM station.
Rob.

Hi Sean,
Sorry not to work you. 5W AM and lowish mod levels don't really cut the mustard unfortunately.
We had only a small vertical for the AM station with huge background noise and no real contacts. But we managed a very local AM contact which was duly video recorded.

We had a lot of interesting displays all live, but unfortunately (and maybe sadly predictably) few visitors. It was great to see Rob there. In typical helpful Rob style it was he, the visitor who was making tea for the local operators - very welcome!

Anyway we all had a good time and learned a lot about new communication modes.

My KW2000B was put on the air and did a sterling job with 5/9 into Tyree in the Inner Hebrides, also on the same 7-8m wire vertical.

BBRC is now officially 75 yrs old!

Mods - this thread can now be put to bed - thanks.

-Jeremy
